DUBAI: Excitement among cricket fans for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 has reached new heights, with more than one million ticket applications received within just three days of the start of the online ticketing process.
According to figures released by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the highly anticipated clash between traditional rivals Pakistan and India has emerged as the biggest attraction for fans.
More than 110,000 applications have already been submitted for tickets to the Pakistan-India group-stage match alone, highlighting the enormous demand for the blockbuster encounter.
According to the schedule, Pakistan and India are set to face each other on October 10, 2027, at the historic venue in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The demand is not limited to the group-stage encounter. The ICC said fans are also showing strong interest in potential Pakistan-India clashes in the later stages of the tournament.
As many as 78,000 ticket applications have been received for a potential Pakistan-India meeting in the Super Six stage, while more than 69,000 applications have been submitted for tickets to the World Cup final.
The unprecedented demand for tickets underlines the massive anticipation surrounding the 2027 World Cup and points to a highly popular tournament among cricket fans worldwide.
The 2027 Cricket World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, with matches scheduled to be played across various cities in the three countries.
