KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has decided to keep the policy rate unchanged at 11.5%, announcing its second monetary policy statement of the current fiscal year.

The Monetary Policy Committee reached the decision after reviewing key economic indicators and the country’s prevailing economic conditions.

According to the central bank, maintaining the policy rate is particularly significant ahead of the upcoming economic review talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The SBP noted that developments in the Middle East and rising global oil prices are continuing to contribute to inflationary pressures.
