KARACHI: A senior investigation committee has once again visited the crime scene in connection with the death of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza, following changes to the investigation team.
The committee conducted a fresh review of the available evidence, but the case has yet to reach any significant conclusion.
According to details, the investigation committee is examining various aspects of the case involving the possible killing of Mir Raza. Members of the committee, headed by its secretary SSP Ali Raza, visited the crime scene and carried out a detailed inspection of the location.
The committee members reviewed different pieces of evidence at the scene and are re-examining the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death from multiple angles.
Officials said evidence collected during the investigation is being subjected to a fresh review to establish the facts and determine the circumstances that led to the incident. The latest inspection follows a change in the committee previously formed to investigate the case.
Earlier, Justice Umar Sial, who was appointed head of the judicial commission constituted to investigate the case, received the notification regarding the formation of the commission.
The Home Department had also included the commission’s terms of reference (ToRs) in the notification.
According to the notification, the commission has been tasked with determining the actual facts surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s death and examining all circumstances related to the incident.
The commission will also review whether the investigation has been conducted in an impartial and lawful manner. In addition, it has been directed to examine whether there was any negligence or lapse on the part of the police, medico-legal officer (MLO) or any other government official.
The fresh examination of the crime scene and evidence is expected to help investigators establish a clearer sequence of events. However, authorities have yet to announce any major breakthrough in the case.
