An elderly woman who spent years begging outside a mosque in India’s Karnataka state left residents stunned after nearly a million Indian rupees in cash and coins were reportedly found at her home following her death.

The woman, identified as Hoor, lived in Gattalu Layout in Mandya and had reportedly spent several years begging outside a local mosque to make a living.

Hoor often complained to people that her family did not properly look after her, forcing her to seek help from others to cover her expenses.

After her death, her house was searched, and people were stunned to find sacks filled with cash and coins.

Upon counting, Rs840,000 Indian rupees was reportedly found, equivalent to over RS2.5 million in Pakistani currency. Local residents, however, said the total amount could be between 3 million and 4 million Indian rupees.

The discovery of such a large amount of money in the possession of a woman who had spent years begging outside a mosque has become a major topic of discussion among local residents.
