Karachi Traffic Police has issued a special traffic plan for processions to be held across the city on 8th Rabi-ul-Awwal, corresponding to August 22.

According to the traffic police spokesperson, processions will be taken out from various locations, including Nishtar Park, with special arrangements made to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Vehicles participating in the processions can obtain passes from August 17 to 20. Applicants will be required to submit the vehicle’s registration card, CNIC and two photographs.

The traffic police said participants must carry the original vehicle registration card and CNIC during the procession. Relevant central offices can be contacted to obtain vehicle passes.

The traffic police have also announced diversions and alternative routes around procession routes and advised citizens to use alternate roads.

Law-enforcement personnel, media representatives and ambulance staff have also been directed to carry their valid identification and vehicle documents and cooperate with traffic officials.

It should be noted that Chup Tazia (meaning “silent tazia”) is a quiet religious procession held by Shia Muslims on the 8th of Rabi’ al-Awwal.
