A 12-year-old girl who went missing from school on August 5 has been safely recovered from Thatta. Police said the girl had not returned home after becoming upset with her mother’s reprimand.

According to details, Keamari District Police in Karachi recovered the girl, identified as Iqra, following a successful operation.

The SSP Investigation said a case regarding Iqra’s disappearance had been registered at Site-A Police Station against unidentified persons. However, the investigation team traced the girl with the help of technical surveillance and CCTV footage.

Police said Iqra had gone to a friend’s house after school instead of returning home because she was upset with her mother. She later went to Civil Hospital.

According to police, a family found the girl unattended at the hospital and, out of concern, took her with them to Thatta. Police subsequently traced her location and safely recovered her.

SSP Investigation Masroor Ahmed Jatoi said the recovered girl has been handed over to her mother. She will also be presented before the court to record her statement.
