The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out a major intelligence-based operation in the border area of Attock, killing five dangerous terrorists.
According to a CTD spokesperson, a heavy exchange of fire took place between the terrorists and CTD personnel during the operation.
The terrorists opened fire while attempting to target the CTD team, but the security forces responded effectively.
As a result of the retaliatory action, five terrorists were killed, while weapons, explosives, and hand grenades were also recovered from their possession.
The CTD said that the slain terrorists had been planning terrorist attacks in Punjab, and sensitive intelligence regarding their activities had been received, leading to the intelligence-based operation.
The spokesperson added that a search operation is still underway in the border areas of Attock to arrest any possible facilitators and fleeing suspects.
According to the CTD, identification of the killed terrorists has begun, while further investigations are also in progress.
Officials further said that inquiries are continuing to determine the identities of the militants and their possible network, and area-wide search operations are being conducted to trace any facilitators or escaped elements.
