In another tragic incident, six children from the same family were killed and another sustained critical injuries after the roof of a mud house collapsed in the Rahimabad Bassi area of Alpuri tehsil, Shangla district, on Tuesday, according to Rescue 1122 officials.
The victims were identified as 14-year-old Nazira Bibi, 13-year-old Samira Bibi, 12-year-old Umaira, seven-year-old Nayab, and five-year-olds Rizwanullah and Haya Noor. The injured child, 11-year-old Marwa, was reported to be in critical condition.
According to Rescue 1122, all seven children were sleeping inside the house when the roof suddenly collapsed.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving an emergency call and launched a rescue operation.
The bodies of the deceased children were recovered from the rubble within an hour, while one injured child was pulled out alive and shifted for medical treatment.
The accident comes weeks after a similar tragedy in Charsadda district’s Prang Majoki area, where three children lost their lives and a couple suffered serious injuries when the roof of a house collapsed.
