ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration has issued a new notification regarding business operating hours under energy-saving measures following Eid-ul-Adha.
Officials said the revised timings have been introduced as part of nationwide efforts to manage the ongoing energy crisis linked to tensions stemming from the Iran conflict, which had earlier prompted federal and provincial governments to enforce regulated commercial hours.
During Eid-ul-Adha, the government had temporarily relaxed restrictions, allowing markets and commercial centres extended operating hours. However, with the festive period now over, authorities have reinstated the revised schedule.
According to the notification, effective June 1 (Monday), all markets and shopping malls in the federal capital will close at 8:00 pm.
Restaurants, food outlets, bakeries, tandoors, grocery shops, and fruit and vegetable stores will be permitted to operate until 10:00 pm. Similarly, wedding halls and event venues will be required to conclude functions by 10:00 pm.
Takeaway and home delivery services will remain exempt from time restrictions.
Pharmacies, hospitals, medical laboratories, and medical stores have also been exempted from the new timings. Petrol pumps, CNG stations, dairy shops, IT companies, call centres, gyms, and sports facilities will continue to operate under their regular schedules without restriction.
