Six people were killed and several others were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in Islamabad’s Sector G-7/2.

The explosion in Sector G-7/2 of Islamabad shook the city. Initial reports indicate that the explosion was caused by a gas leak in a house, where striking a match led to the cylinder suddenly bursting. The blast was so powerful that it caused the complete collapse of three residential homes, with nearby houses also suffering significant damage.

Rescue and emergency services acted swiftly, pulling 16 people from the rubble, 11 of whom were injured and were immediately transferred to Pakistan Advanced Medical Hospital.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Sahibzada Yousuf told the media that the call about the explosion was received at 7:19 PM. Rescue teams and the police arrived at the scene promptly and began rescue operations.

According to local residents, the sound of the explosion was heard from a distance, and the suddenness of the incident spread fear and panic in the area.

The police have cordoned off the area, tightening security, and temporarily suspended the gas and electricity supply to prevent any further incidents.
