ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal said that the bureau has worked hard to arrest the corrupts across the nation.
The chairman in a statement claimed that in order to bring them to justice, the NAB has recovered Rs150 billion (Dh3.56 billion) looted money from corrupt elements in 2019.
According to Javed Iqbal, the NAB received 463,845 complaints and was able to dispose of 450,546 complaints in 2019 while 13,299 were under process which will be disposed of during this year.
He said that the NAB filed 3,676 corruption references in various Accountability Courts since its beginning and currently 1,275 corruption references were sub judice in 25 respected AC of the country.
Earlier in January, Iqbal said that the NAB was not a part of the politics. It was only connected to the country. He also said that its purpose was not to ridicule anyone but it focused on giving due rights to people.
He further said, “Corruption is not like termite infestation anymore, it has turned into cancer” adding that surgery is its solution.
Chairman NAB assured the trader’s community that the incumbent government is working to facilitate them.
