KARACHI: Singer Ali Gul Pir has revealed that most of his songs highlighted harassment the women face every day.
While being interviewed in a private program, the ‘Wadere Ka Beta’ singer revealed how he knew the problems of women who leave for work or travel in public buses.
Ali Gul Pir told in an interview that when he was young, his mother traveled on buses and he used to accompany her. He added, “Everyone used to stare at my mother.”
He revealed at the time of his parents’ divorce, he was very young and lived with his mother.
Pir unveiled that coming from a background of Islamabad and Canada, the act of staring his mother was quite bizarre for him, “I was born in Islamabad and lived in Canada for six years. When we came to Karachi, I had not seen it all so I was not aware of the staring.”
Ali continued, “I was growing up and wanted to protect my mother from the people who stared at them and that’s why I was staring at the people who stared at my mom.”
Ali Gul Pir revealed that while he was growing, he realized that besides his mother, the other women also faced the same issue on a daily basis, which included the school-going girls too.
According to Pir, his mostly released songs are related to the problems of women face in everyday life.
