PSX registers minor gain in volatile session

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) observed a volatile session on Wednesday with the benchmark KSE-100 Index recording a minor gain.

The market began on a strong note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index reaching an all-time intra-day high of 166,522.61. However, profit-taking soon took over, causing the index to dip to a low of 164,155.32.

By the close, the index settled at 165,640.33, marking a gain of 146.75 points or 0.09%.

On Tuesday, the PSX had closed on a positive note, with broad-based buying pushing indices to new highs. The KSE-100 Index surged by 1,645.90 points, or 1%, finishing at 165,493.59.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee strengthened further against the US dollar on Wednesday. During the early hours of trading in the inter-bank market, the currency appreciated by 0.07%, reaching 281.13, a gain of Re0.19 against the greenback by 10:30 am.
