The Institute of Public Health Punjab has successfully developed a vaccine to prevent breast cancer in women, the media reported on Tuesday.
The breakthrough comes as health authorities initiate policy dialogues for mass production of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which medical experts confirm could revolutionize cancer prevention in the country.
Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman hailed the development as transformative, emphasizing the provincial government’s commitment to advancing healthcare innovation.
“The Papilloma Vaccine represents a scientific milestone for Pakistan,” he stated.
Renowned medical expert Prof. Dr. Javed Akram said the vaccine would help prevent breast cancer.
He explained that administering three doses of the vaccine to girls at the age of 12 would provide lifelong protection against the disease.
