Altaf Hussain, the founder and leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), was discharged from a hospital in London early Saturday morning. He had been admitted on the afternoon of August 8 after his health suddenly worsened.

The 71-year-old leader was taken to the emergency ward where doctors quickly began medical tests. These included blood work, an electrocardiogram (ECG), and a chest X-ray. His oxygen levels were monitored closely during the entire time.

Medical staff worked to stabilize his condition while they tried to find the cause of his illness. After the tests, doctors diagnosed him with a severe flu and a chest infection. He was given antibiotics and other medicines to support his recovery.

Doctors also advised him to rest completely in the coming days. Altaf Hussain stayed in the hospital’s emergency ward for about nine hours. He was discharged at 12:30 a.m. London time on August 9. This was 4:30 a.m. in Pakistan.

After his release, Hussain thanked all MQM supporters and well-wishers who prayed for his health. He said their prayers and messages meant a lot to him.

This health scare comes at a challenging time for Hussain. He has been living in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom for several years. Although his political activities have been limited recently, he still holds strong influence over his party’s followers.
