Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Senator Chaudhry Tanveer has been arrested from Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench premises after his bail plea was dismissed in the murder case of Chaudhry Adnan.
Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan rejected Tanveer’s application for pre-arrest bail in connection with the murder case of Chaudhry Adnan. Following the court’s decision, law enforcement officials took him into custody.
Tanveer is named as an accused in the Chaudhry Adnan murder investigation, which is registered at the Civil Lines Police Station.
The arrest comes amid ongoing proceedings in the high-profile case, drawing significant public and political attention. Further legal developments are expected in the coming days.
As per sources, the accused was shifted to the hospital due to an alleged health issue following the arrest.
Chaudhry Muhammad Adnan, 48, an independent candidate in the Feb 8 elections, was killed by unidentified motorcycle riders in Rawalpindi last year. The murder occurred in the Civil Lines area, which has already been declared the ‘red zone’ in the garrison city. After the registration of the FIR by Chaudhry Nadeem Iqbal, brother-in-law of the deceased, the police launched an investigation to arrest the culprits.
A day after the murder of the ex-MPA, the Civil Lines police booked Chaudhry Tanveer, Daniyal Chaudhry, and Changez Khan for their alleged involvement in the killing of the ex-lawmaker.
