The exact number of casualties in the latest Israeli attack on different Iranian cities is yet to be disclosed; however, there are confirmed reports about the killing of several key Iranian figures in the attacks.
The operation, described as the largest Israeli attack on Iran since the Iran–Iraq War, targeted both military and nuclear sites as well as the residences of top Iranian leaders.
The following key Iranian figures have been killed:
- Major General Hossein Salami: Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), one of Iran’s most powerful military and political figures. Salami played a central role in coordinating Iran’s regional proxy forces and military strategy.
- Major General Mohammad Bagheri: Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, the highest-ranking military officer in Iran. His death was confirmed by Iranian state television and multiple international outlets.
- General Gholamali Rashid: Deputy Chief of Staff for the Iranian military, a senior figure in Iran’s military hierarchy.
- Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani: Senior nuclear scientist and former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. He played a significant role in Iran’s nuclear program.
- Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi: Senior nuclear scientist, also reportedly killed in the attacks.
Additionally, the top advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and former secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council was seriously wounded in a strike on his residence and is in critical condition.
The strikes also reportedly targeted other high-ranking IRGC commanders and scientists involved in Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, though their identities have not all been publicly confirmed.
