Senior journalist and anchorperson Harmit Singh claimed that Sana Yousaf had been in contact with him until about an hour before her murder. They had been in touch throughout the week. He stated that there is someone’s house below, and nobody can go upstairs without permission. This suggests that the murderer was someone she knew and whose name and face were familiar to others.
Speaking to media, Harmit Singh stated, “Since someone’s house is below and you cannot go upstairs without permission, then suddenly overnight her body was taken away. Perhaps, there were some family matters, and they did not want the media to highlight the issue.
Regarding the FIR, the anchor stated that a thin, young man had entered with a weapon, gone into the room, and opened fire. The journalist added that the girl had wanted to live, but the real problem was that we live in a world of ignorance, where instead of expressing sorrow or offering condolences over someone’s suffering, people end up sprinkling salt on their wounds.
He was asked whether he had been in contact with her until 3:00 p.m., given that the FIR recorded the time of murder as 4:05. He confirmed it without hesitation, saying, “Yes, absolutely.” Then, almost as if to deflect from the uncomfortable timeline, he added that no one around was willing to talk. The body, he explained, had been taken first to her grandmother’s house and then transported to Chitral later that night.
In response to another question, he said that since there is a house below, it means people even knew the suspect’s face and name. He added that whatever had happened upstairs and whatever had been reported, everyone had seen it. Even her aunt had said she would be able to recognize him if he came forward.
He said he had felt that the girl had been the happiest person; she had even received an offer to act in a television drama. He remarked that people should not speak about heaven and hell, as that was a matter between God and the individual.
