As Eidul Adha approaches, a video is circulating on social media in which a Maulana is clearly stating that the sacrifice of a buffalo is not permissible.
The Maulana is seen standing in a cattle market where buffaloes are being sold for sacrifice. Speaking to a TV anchor in the presence of others, he asserts that only eight types of animals are permitted for sacrifice: camels and she-camels, cows and bulls, goats and she-goats, ram and ewe.
According to him, buffaloes are not included in this list, and therefore, the sacrifice of a buffalo would not be accepted.
However, other Islamic scholars have rejected this view, stating that the sacrifice of a buffalo is valid and there should be no doubt about its permissibility.
