The Rawalpindi Divisional Administration has authorized the establishment of eight official cattle markets across the district, while imposing a strict ban on the sale of sacrificial animals along roadsides or in unauthorized locations.
To safeguard public health and ensure safety standards, only animals certified as healthy will be permitted within these designated markets. The sale of sick or malnourished animals is strictly prohibited, and violators will face legal action, including the confiscation of livestock.
Commissioner Aamir Khattak has directed that all approved markets be equipped with disinfectants, undergo regular fumigation, and have emergency fire response services available. He has also instructed the traffic police to implement comprehensive traffic management plans to prevent congestion around these high-traffic zones.
In Tehsil Rawalpindi, three official markets have been set up at Bhata Chowk in Rawalpindi Cantt, near Koh-e-Noor Mill, and in Mouza Ranyal adjacent to the Fatima Jinnah University Campus on Chakri Road.
Additional markets have been designated in various other locations: Kallar Syedan Road, near Mankiala Bridge, and Gulyana Road near the slaughterhouse in Tehsil Gujar Khan; Sharif Hospital Stop on GT Road and Timber Market Road in Tehsil Taxila; Mangal Bypass in Tehsil Kallar Syedan; and Chan Shah Jaliar on Tangi Road in Tehsil Kahuta.
