Pakistan is expected to face intense weather conditions on April 18 and 19, with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) warning of heavy rainfall, dust storms, and hailstorms across multiple regions.
The alert, issued by the National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC) on Thursday, highlights that Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several areas in Punjab—including Chakwal, Gujrat, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Lahore, and Sargodha—are likely to experience severe weather over the next two days.
Strong winds, torrential rain, and hail may lead to widespread disruptions, including power outages, accidents, and damage to property and standing crops.
The NDMA noted that agricultural zones in Punjab could be particularly affected, urging farmers to take protective measures to safeguard their produce.
A severe hailstorm in Islamabad on Wednesday offered a glimpse of the looming threat, shattering vehicle windows, damaging buildings, and toppling trees.
Citizens have been advised to remain vigilant, limit unnecessary travel, and steer clear of weak structures and large trees. The NDMA also recommended the use of the Disaster Alert mobile app to stay updated on weather developments.
Urging the importance of preparedness, authorities have asked the public to strictly adhere to safety protocols.
