Judicial Magistrate Malir has granted a 5-day physical remand of journalist Farhan Malik in another case, as reported by national media on Wednesday.
According to a report, Farhan Malik was presented by FIA today in the court of Judicial Magistrate Malir in a separate case, where FIA officials and Farhan Malik’s lawyer appeared in court.
In the FIR presented by FIA in the court, it was stated that on March 25, a raid was conducted at a call center in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and two suspects, Atar Hussain and Hassan Najib, were arrested.
The FIR stated that the arrested suspects were involved in fraud with foreigners, and using software, they were obtaining confidential data from foreigners. The suspects are involved in fraud and cheating.
According to FIA’s FIR, the arrested suspects revealed that this activity was happening on the instructions of Farhan Gohar Malik. Later, the court handed over Farhan Malik to FIA on a 5-day physical remand in the second case.
Speaking to the media, Farhan Malik’s lawyer Moiz Jafri said that when Farhan Malik was to be presented for remand the previous day, there was a delay, and during that time, a new case was registered at 9 am, in which two individuals were named.
Lawyer Moiz Jafri stated that this is a completely baseless case. The case was registered on the same day, and Farhan Malik was arrested. When remand was not granted, a false case was fabricated against Farhan Malik.
He further said that in violation of the court’s order, FIA kept Farhan Malik in their custody. According to the law, after sending a person to jail, jail authorities must be notified before arresting them in another case.
It is noteworthy that earlier, FIA had arrested journalist Farhan Malik under the PECA laws, and the court had rejected the extension request for Farhan Malik’s physical remand yesterday, ordering his imprisonment.
