Eidi, a cherished tradition of Eidul Fitr, involves elders presenting gifts, often in the form of money, to younger family members, particularly children. To honor this custom, many seek crisp, new banknotes, prompting the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to traditionally release fresh currency notes during Eid. However, for Eidul Fitr 2025, it appears unlikely that the SBP will issue new notes.
Eidul Fitr 2025 is anticipated to fall on March 31. Media reports suggest that the chances of the central bank distributing fresh currency notes before the festival are slim, as the SBP has plans to introduce newly designed banknotes later this year. Despite this, the central bank has not issued an official statement on the matter.

Meanwhile, in the absence of clarity, some individuals have turned to shopkeepers to purchase fresh notes at inflated prices.
Reports reveal that a bundle of Rs10 currency notes, with a face value of Rs1,000, is being sold for as much as Rs1,200 to Rs1,250.
