President Asif Ali Zardari will address the joint session of Parliament today, marking the beginning of the new parliamentary year. The address, scheduled for this afternoon, is expected to include significant announcements.
According to details, the joint session of Parliament will be presided over by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, while the President will present the government’s one-year performance before the public. Following the address, the session will be adjourned indefinitely.
The joint session will be attended by the heads of all three armed forces, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, members of the National Assembly and Senate, and other relevant officials. The President’s House has stated that security has been tightened for the occasion.
During the 14th session of the country’s 16th National Assembly, the government’s policies and future plans will be reviewed. President Zardari’s speech will fulfill the constitutional requirement of a presidential address to the joint session and will also include various proposals for public welfare.
Additionally, the speech and announcements will cover aspects of national politics, foreign affairs, the economy, and public welfare. The President may also announce a public relief package. Proposals for improving legislation in Parliament will also be presented.
Following the address, both houses of Parliament will hold discussions on President Asif Ali Zardari’s speech. With today’s address, Asif Ali Zardari will become the first President to deliver a joint session speech for the eighth time. Previously, he had the honor of addressing the joint session seven times.
