Butt said that legal professionals nationwide demand a full court hearing on the matter and insist that Supreme Court proceedings be broadcast live.
He also called for the immediate cancellation of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan’s (JCP) meeting scheduled for February 10, emphasizing that no new appointments should be made until the case on the 26th Amendment is decided.
Moreover, he stressed that the senior-most judge of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) should be appointed as its chief justice.
Meanwhile, lawyers’ associations rejected the recent transfer of three judges by the Ministry of Law in Islamabad.
During the press conference, Islamabad Bar Chairman Aleem Abbasi stated that representatives from the Islamabad High Court, District Court, and High Court were present at the meeting, where it was unanimously decided that the legal community would not accept these transfers.
He described the transfers as malicious and an attempt to create division within the judiciary.
