The National Telecom and Information Technology Security Board (NTISB) has issued a new advisory in light of the growing risk of cyberattacks in Pakistan.
IT expert Kanwal Cheema shared valuable tips on how individuals can protect themselves from cyberattacks.
According to Cheema, one of the first steps in protecting yourself is to install browser extensions that help secure online activities. However, she cautioned that these extensions themselves can be vulnerable to hacking.
In its advisory, the NTISB highlighted 16 specific browser extensions that hackers are known to exploit.
If any of these extensions are found in your browser, Cheema strongly advised users to remove them immediately. Moreover, if you’ve used any of these extensions, it’s crucial to change all your passwords and sensitive information to prevent unauthorized access.
Cheema further emphasized that failure to update passwords could leave personal data vulnerable, as hackers can easily access stolen information through these extensions. In response to a query, she confirmed that even if these extensions are used on iPhones, they must be deleted from those devices as well.
The IT expert urged all users to carefully review the NTISB’s advisory and follow the guidelines provided to safeguard their digital security.
