US Ambassador Donald Blome met with Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss economic cooperation and bilateral relations.
According to a report by Pak Observer, during the farewell meeting, Ambassador Blome praised Pakistan’s initiatives to enhance macroeconomic indicators and assured continued US support for Pakistan’s economic stability and sustainable growth.
The Finance Minister emphasized the enduring partnership between Pakistan and the United States and briefed the Ambassador on the country’s economic outlook. He highlighted Pakistan’s reform agenda aimed at stabilizing the economy and fostering export-led growth. Key sectors undergoing reforms to ensure sustainable development were also discussed.
Senator Aurangzeb thanked the US for its instrumental role in facilitating the Stand-by Arrangement and Extended Fund Facility with the International Monetary Fund. He acknowledged the US as Pakistan’s largest trading partner and a vital market for its goods and services, with particular attention to the expanding IT export sector and the potential for increased digital trade.
Ambassador Blome commended the strong relationship between the two nations and reaffirmed US commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic reforms and growth initiatives.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing a mutual desire to strengthen ties further, particularly in trade and economic collaboration.
