During the PTI protest in Islamabad, several individuals who were arrested revealed during interrogation that they had been paid to join the demonstration.
One such person, named Sajjad, stated that they were given 50,000 rupees to participate.
According to police sources, many of the detainees denied any ideological affiliation with PTI, instead describing themselves as poor and helpless. These confessions were incorporated into Section 161 statements, which require verification before a magistrate.
Sajjad, who was arrested during the PTI protest in Islamabad, explained that they had been paid 50,000 rupees and had been promised to take part in the sit-in. After PTI leadership fled, the participants also attempted to escape, but were arrested by the police.
Another individual, Khurshid Muhammad Awan, explained that he had been traveling to Islamabad for business and, due to transport issues, had ended up in the vehicle of the protesters. Once in the vehicle, he became worried because the protesters were carrying sticks, stones, and weapons. When the police stopped their vehicle, the protesters attacked the police and fled. Later, at a toll plaza, they began rioting and setting fires, and Awan narrowly escaped.
