Several areas of Karachi experienced rainfall accompanied by strong winds for the second consecutive day, providing some relief to residents amid the hot and humid conditions.
Heavy showers with gusty winds particularly affected Gulistan-e-Johar, while downpours also impacted regions near Sharea Faisal and Karsaz.
The rain led to overflowing drains and significant traffic disruptions. Sharea Faisal saw traffic congestion as rainwater flooded both lanes of the main road from Drigh Road to Karsaz.
On Thursday, a man lost his life, and numerous structures—including trees, roadside stalls, and advertising boards—were damaged during a windstorm followed by a brief but intense rain and hailstorm that swept through parts of the city.
According to the Meteorological Office, while the rainfall didn’t significantly impact the majority of Karachi, the windstorm primarily affected the East, Malir, and parts of Central districts.
They attributed the strong winds and subsequent moderate to heavy rain to a western disturbance. The areas that received rainfall included Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Scheme-33, Gulshan-i-Maymar, Malir, National Highway, Bin Qasim, and Gadap.
