Islamabad police constable Abdul Hameed succumbed to his injuries on Sunday after being injured by PTI protesters on Saturday in the capital city.
The deceased was under treatment at the PIMS hospital. He had been assaulted by enraged PTI workers during the protest.
Details indicate that the Islamabad police official was injured during clashes between police and PTI workers amidst PTI protests in the federal capital.
He later died while receiving medical treatment.
According to an Islamabad Police spokesperson, Abdul Hamid was on law and order duty at Chungi No 26. He was assigned to the Investigation Wing and was a resident of Abbottabad.
Hameed joined the Islamabad Police in 1988 and was due to retire from service after three months.
The funeral prayers for the deceased constable will be held in D-Chowk, according to an announcement from the police. The funeral had originally been scheduled to take place in Police Lines.
