Several sections of the motorway, including the M2 and M1, have been closed today due to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Lahore.
The closures, announced by motorway police, have disrupted traffic across major routes, leading to significant inconvenience for commuters traveling to and from Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to a motorway police spokesperson, traffic on the M2 motorway from Chakri has been completely halted. Vehicles from Neela Dullah are being rerouted to alternate roads to help manage the flow of traffic and reduce congestion around the rally site. The spokesperson also noted that the M1 motorway, which connects key cities in KP, is experiencing closures at multiple points, further complicating travel for those heading to Lahore.
These road closures are part of heightened security and traffic control measures ahead of the PTI’s public gathering. Travelers from northern regions have reported long delays due to the blocked sections, with numerous vehicles spotted in lengthy queues near Chakri and Neela Dullah.
Motorway police are advising commuters to stay informed about alternate routes and plan their journeys accordingly to minimize inconvenience. As the rally approaches, authorities are working to ensure public safety and manage the anticipated influx of attendees.
