Two days following actor Jayam Ravi’s announcement of their impending divorce, and a day after he filed a petition for divorce at the Chennai Family Court, his wife, Aarti Ravi, issued a statement on Wednesday.
In her note, Aarti expressed being ‘shocked and saddened’ by Ravi’s handling of the situation, asserting that she was blindsided by his public statement.
Aarti Ravi’s Statement Aarti took to Instagram to share her response, and she has disabled comments on the post. Her statement reveals that Ravi announced their separation without her prior knowledge or consent. She expressed her dismay, saying, “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the recent public announcement regarding our marriage, which was made without my knowledge or consent. After 18 years of shared history, I believe that such a significant matter should be handled with the grace, respect, and privacy that it deserves.”
Aarti further claimed that despite her attempts to resolve their issues amicably and work on their marriage, her efforts were unreciprocated. “For some time, I have sought several opportunities to speak directly with my husband, hoping to have an open dialogue in a manner that honours the commitment we made to one another and our family. Sadly, that opportunity was not afforded to me, leaving both my children and me completely blindsided by this announcement.”
She clarified that the decision to end their marriage was made solely by Ravi and was not in the best interest of their family. “The decision to walk out of our marriage is purely one-sided and does not benefit our family. Despite the pain this has caused, I have chosen to remain dignified and refrained from public comment until now.”
Aarti also addressed the negative public reaction she has faced since the announcement, stating, “It has been hard to endure the false public narrative that has unfairly placed blame on me and subjected my character to attacks. As a mother, my first priority is and always will be the well-being of my children, I cannot stand by while this narrative affects them, and I will not allow these unfounded allegations to go unaddressed.”
She concluded by expressing hope that the full context of their situation will become clear over time, focusing on supporting her children through this challenging period.
Jayam Ravi’s Divorce Petition According to Asianet News, Jayam Ravi filed for divorce from Aarti at the Chennai Family Court on September 10. In his petition, he requested the annulment of their marriage, which took place in 2009.
