A Karachi court on Monday denied bail to Natasha Danish, who is accused in a drug-related case tied to a deadly car crash on Karsaz road. The ruling follows reports of a settlement between Natasha’s family and the victims’ families.
The magistrate had reserved judgment on Natasha’s bail request on September 6, and the decision to deny bail comes after it was revealed that a financial settlement had been reached. Sources indicate that Natasha’s family has compensated over 50 million rupees to the family of Amina, one of the victims, through a pay order. Additionally, it has been reported that a family member of Amina will be offered a job at a company.
Further settlements have been made with the individuals who were injured in the accident, with compensation payments issued in line with Islamic law.
The interim charge sheet submitted by the police yesterday has also deemed Natasha’s British driving license inadmissible in the case.
The accident, which occurred on August 19, involved Natasha driving a speeding car that veered out of control and hit pedestrians on Karsaz Road. The crash resulted in the deaths of Imran Arif and his daughter Amna, and left four others injured. Natasha was apprehended by the police shortly after the incident.
The case has sparked significant public outcry, with demands for justice for the victims and calls for stringent action against Natasha. The media and public are closely watching the case, with concerns about potential leniency due to Natasha’s privileged status.
