As Amar Kaushik’s horror-comedy Stree 2 breaks records at the box office, fans are eagerly awaiting its OTT release. However, the exact online release date has not been confirmed yet.
It has been confirmed that Amazon Prime Video has secured the streaming rights for Stree 2. Initially, it was reported that the film would be available on the platform between September 13-14. However, the latest information suggests that it is now expected to be available starting September 27. An official confirmation of the streaming date is still pending, leaving audiences on edge.
The film, which hit theaters on August 15 is set in the eerie town of Chanderi. In this chilling sequel, the story revolves around a headless entity named Sarkata that terrorizes the town by abducting women and spreading fear among the residents, making it a must-watch for fans of the genre.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande under the Maddock Films and Jio Studios banners, Stree 2 brings back the beloved cast from the original. Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor reprise their lead roles, while Pankaj Tripathi returns as Rudra, Abhishek Banerjee as Jana, Aparshakti Khurana as Bittu, and Sunita Rajwar also makes a comeback, reuniting the familiar faces that made the first film a hit.
It is worth noting that Stree 2 has set a new benchmark at the Indian box office, surpassing the Hindi version of Pathaan to become the second highest-grossing Hindi film in India. This achievement follows the film’s recent milestone of surpassing the Hindi version of SS Rajamouli’s 2017 blockbuster Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
On Sunday, Stree 2 added approximately Rs. 10 crore to its total, bringing its earnings to around Rs. 527 crore net. This new total surpasses the Hindi version of Pathaan, which had collected Rs. 524.53 crore. Consequently, Stree 2 now holds the second position, just behind Jawan, which remains the highest-grossing Hindi film with Rs. 582.31 crore net.
