It remains unclear whether the targeted individuals are Bangladeshi migrants or Indian Muslims. The violence highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of minorities in India, where extremist groups frequently target Muslims and Christians.
Critics argue that the Indian government has failed to protect minority rights, citing the current administration under Prime Minister Narendra Modi as being influenced by Hindu nationalist sentiments. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been accused of promoting policies that align with Hindu majoritarianism.
