ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday met Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa during the oath-taking ceremony of the new Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Both army chief and Imran Khan discussed the prevailing situation and the matters of mutual interests of the country on the sidelines of the oath-taking ceremony.
The ceremony was held at Aiwan-e-Sadr where Justice Gulzar Ahmad took an oath and assumed charge as the 27th CJP and would remain as Chief Justice till 1st February 2022.
On 4th December, the law ministry issued the notification for the appointment of Justice Gulzar Ahmad as CJP after seeking approval from President Arif Alvi.
Justice Gulzar had remained the part of benches which had announced various landmark and high profile judgments. He is the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court after the incumbent Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.
