BEIRUT: Hezbollah announced on Saturday that it had launched dozens of Katyusha rockets at Israel, marking the latest in a series of attacks claimed to be in support of the Palestinian people as foreign nationals were advised to leave Lebanon on Sunday amid a highly volatile situation.
The Lebanese militant group stated that its latest attack on Beit Hillel in northern Israel was a response to Israel’s attacks on Kfar Kela and Deir Siriane in Lebanon, which it said resulted in civilian injuries.
The Israeli military reported that 30 projectiles were launched from Lebanon, with most intercepted.
As Israel remains on high alert, anticipating major military action from Tehran-aligned armed groups, medics and police reported that two people were killed on Sunday in a stabbing attack in a Tel Aviv suburb.
France, Canada, and Jordan were among the latest countries to advise their citizens to leave Lebanon. The French foreign ministry urged nationals to avoid traveling to Lebanon and for those already in the country to “make their arrangements now to leave… as soon as possible” in light of the “highly volatile security context.” The United States and Britain have issued similar warnings.
Several Western airlines have suspended flights to the region.
