LAHORE: Lawyer Hassaan Niazi, nephew of Prime Minister Imran Khan has been granted interim bail by the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) attack case.
The ATC Judge Arshad Hussain heard the bail plea of Hassaan Niazi along with his lawyer turned up before the court.
Niazi in his plea stated that he wanted to join police investigation into the case to prove his innocence but feared his arrest as the police have been carrying out raids to arrest him.
The court approved the bail for the accused against a surety bond of Rs100,000 until 24th December.
Niazi has been under the hunt of the police after the PIC attack that occurred last week. The police conducted raids at his residence twice but no one was found.
Last week, a large group of lawyers attacked the PIC. The lawyers beat up doctors and vandalised public property. At least 52 lawyers were arrested after the attack and presented before the court.
