Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shafqat Mahmood has announced his retirement from politics, saying it’s time for the young generation to come forward.
In his statement, Mahmood shared that after much deliberation, he has decided to retire from politics to devote the rest of his life to writing and teaching.
He emphasized that this decision was made without any external pressure and that he has no plans to join another party. Mahmood explained that his departure from politics is due to the natural progression of time and age.
Reflecting on his political career, Mahmood highlighted his diverse experiences, including serving as a member of the Senate and National Assembly and holding both federal and provincial ministerial positions.
He expressed gratitude to PTI Chairman Imran Khan for the opportunity to serve and thanked his constituency and the PTI for electing him twice.
Although Mahmood had filed nomination papers for the National Assembly constituency 130 and the Punjab Assembly constituency 170 in Lahore, he ultimately decided to step aside from the election.
