Is it true? Afghanistan emerges as a leading solar panel manufacturer in the region

A post is circulating on Facebook claiming that Afghanistan has emerged as a leading solar panel manufacturer in the region, with a company in Herat province producing almost 300 solar panels per day.

Yes, there is indeed a company in Afghanistan’s Herat province producing 300 solar panels per day, each capable of providing up to 650 watts of electricity.

Factory officials claim that the solar panels they produce compete with regional companies in terms of quality. The company commenced production last year, with reports indicating an investment of more than $5 million in the factory.

Based on this company, Pakistani users on Facebook criticize their government for not establishing similar factories in Pakistan. They argue that war-torn Afghanistan is progressing by establishing such factories, while the Pakistani government does little for the betterment of its people.

The existence of the Herat company is confirmed; however, it is unclear whether other such companies exist in Afghanistan and how many there are.
