Pakistan Scrabble Association (PSA) has named a 10-member team to feature in the World Youth Scrabble Championship and Asian Youth Championship.
PSA Director of Youth Program Tariq Pervez informed that the World Youth Scrabble Championship would be held from 6 to 8 in Sri Lanka while the Asian Youth Scrabble Championship from November 10 to 12 in India.
He said in this regard a Lucky One Scrabble Championship was held to select the players for the World and Asian Championships.
“It turned out to be a highly successful event with 220 players from all age groups participating. Waseem Khatri emerged as the winner in the master category while Hassan Hadi was the runner-up,” he said.
Pervez said the open category was won by young Arshman Qazi while Bashir Baig finished second. The most exciting event of the day was the Qualifiers to select the Pakistan team for the World Youth Scrabble Championship and the Asian Youth Championship” he said.
The Pakistan team includes Affan Salman, Aehzam Ahmed, Bilal Asher, Ahmed Salman, Manaal Asher, Muhammad Yadaan, Muzammil Hassan, Ashir Adeel, Manhamah Mukarram and Syed Maaz.
Pervez expressed hope that some corporate would come forward and sponsor the team which has a great chance of winning the title.
