Fashion’s biggest night out, the Met Gala, returned last evening drawing A-list celebrities from across the globe to one place.
This year’s theme is centered around “The Garden of Time,” based on J.G. Ballard’s dystopian short story about a count who, for a time, prevents a mob from destroying his villa and the works of culture it contains. Here are the best looks from the Met Gala 2023 red carpet:
Zendaya
Donning Maison Margiela by John Galliano, she took “The Garden of Time” theme in a major way with her nature-themed gown which made her look absolutely stunning.
Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj appeared in a yellow minidress with 3D metal flowers and a bob hairstyle with an arched bubble ponytail, acing the theme and dress code.
Alia Bhatt
Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt gave everyone nostalgia as she made her second appearance at the MET Gala. This time she opted for a custom Sabyasachi look in which she looked stunning.
Jessica Serfaty
Jessica Serfaty who attended the fashion night with her fiance Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, understood the night’s colorful theme.
Gigi Hadid
The supermodel wore one of her best looks ever in a white off-the-shoulder Thom Browne gown with a corset top and layered skirt featuring black piping and yellow 3D roses.
According to Vogue, it took a team of 70 people “over 13,500 hours to make entirely by hand, and will live in Browne’s permanent archive following the Met Gala.”
Amelia Gray
From the goth makeup to the oversized hoop miniskirt, this was not a good look from Amelia Gray but simply fit the theme.
Bad Bunny
Inspired by Count Axel, a character in the “Garden of Time” short story that inspired this year’s theme, Bad Bunny aced his looks wearing custom Maison Margiela.
Ayo Edebiri
Edebiri was one of the best-dressed celebrities throughout the 2023–24 awards season, so it’s no surprise that Ayo Edebiri had a successful Met Gala debut. Her dress and look simply fit the theme.
Shakira
Shakira made a sizzling red-hot Met Gala debut in a high-slit Carolina Herrera gown.
Jennifer Lopez
Lopez’s last few Met Gala outfits were complete disasters but this time, her ultra-glam self in a Schiaparelli Haute Couture design was a breathtaking relief.
Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato, who vowed to never return to the Met Gala, came back a winner in this glittering strapless silver Prabal Gurung dress with a long train and floral appliques.
Kerry Washington
The gorgeous purple color popped while the petals on her short train were on theme.
Nicole Kidman
Although this dramatic black and white Balenciaga ball gown didn’t seem to have anything to do with the “Garden of Time” theme, Nicole looked incredible in one of the best dresses of the night.
