The city’s weather turned pleasant after heavy rain hit different areas of Karachi on Sunday with more rainfall expected in the city today.
Thunderstorms were reported in various areas of Karachi, including Mauripur, North Karachi, Gulistane-e-Johar, Saddar, Soldier Bazar, Airport, and Clifton.
To mitigate the risk of accidents on slippery roads caused by light rain, the city’s traffic police have been deployed.
Motorcyclists have been advised to exercise caution and reduce speed due to the heightened risk of accidents on slick roads.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has dismissed the likelihood of unusual rainfall in the metropolis. He explained that light rain is anticipated today due to the influence of a westerly system accompanied by strong winds. This rainy spell is expected to persist intermittently until the morning of April 15.
Following the rain, a drop in temperatures is anticipated, with the maximum temperature forecasted to reach 32°C today.
Sarfaraz further elaborated that a second wave of westerly winds is expected to enter Karachi on April 17, originating from the coastal areas of Balochistan. This will usher in heavy rains and thunderstorms on April 18 and 19.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi’s current weather is cloudy, with a temperature of 26°C. Winds have shifted direction to blow from the northeast at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, while humidity levels stand at 49%.
