Fire in Karachi fish harbour sets at least 9 yachts ablaze

KARACHI: A fire broke out at a hotel situated at the Karachi fish harbour during the wee hours on Monday.
The blaze that engulfed the berth no. 5 at the harbour set fire to at least nine yachts worth millions of rupees.
The fire spread very quickly due to high winds. The process of cooling is currently underway at the site.

According to the fire brigade spokesperson,  the cause of the fire spreading very rapidly was due to high winds.
At least 12 vehicles belonging to Fire Brigade, Navy, Karachi Port Trust (KPT), and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) reached the site and controlled the blaze after hours of struggle.

Earlier in November, a tyre godown near Musharraf Colony caught fire in Karachi but no casualty was reported in the incident and the cause of the fire was unidentified.
Four fire brigade vehicles reached the spot after being informed and brought the fire under control after a hectic effort of one hour.
