When will Gaza carnage stop?

Ambassador Dr. Jamil by Ambassador Dr. Jamil
October 27, 2023

Gaza is reeling from almost three weeks of Israel’s relentless bombardment as violence threatened to spread elsewhere in the region. Occupied Palestine is the homeland of the Arabs, even Jews accept this fact. However, in the 1940s, Zionists not only took over Palestine in blatant violation of international law but also brought in Jews from all over the world to the occupied land.

Thousands of Palestinians have been killed s a result of Israel’s brutal bombardment, but at the same time, the Zionists are seen drowning in luxury and worldly debauchery in Tel Aviv, the Israeli capital, which is only 40 kilometers away from Gaza.

When Turkey, which used to be the central caliphate of the Islamic Empire, lost this great honor after the Second World War, Jews were only 3% of the population in the current occupied Palestine. However, today, it reached 55%.

Even though Israel’s occupation of Palestine was explicitly proclaimed illegal by UN Security Council resolutions, the process of building Jewish settlements is still continuing and picking up speed. Security Council Resolution No. 242 calls for Israel to withdraw from its occupation of Palestine; however, Israel’s arrogance, aggressiveness, and oppression have not decreased.

At a Zionist meeting in Switzerland in 1897, the idea of Greater Israel was formed, and throughout time, Palestinians were slaughtered under a variety of pretexts. Israel has targeted various kinds of buildings, particularly residential, educational, and medical structures, as well as the residences of Palestinian journalists, intellectuals, and artists. Over 6,500 people have been killed in strikes on Gaza since October 7, including 2,700 children, leaving Gaza in ruins.

Three days ago, at a conference, the World Bank’s chief stated that the kind of acts taking place in Palestine will breed international terrorism, which has the potential to devastate the global economic order. In the absence of a ceasefire, terrorism and acts of retaliation will continue to grow throughout the region, but America is now the main barrier to the truce. In order to avert a potential response from Iran and Hezbollah, the US navy is at sea and is ready to deploy at any moment. Notably, Israel’s military minister claims that Hezbollah has ten times increased in strength since 2006.

Apart from Hezbollah’s and Iran’s military prowess, the Islamic community has not done much to assist occupied Palestine; instead, this problem has primarily been discussed verbally. However, the United States has stated that there should be no break in Israel’s attacks on Gaza while it fights Hamas, and it vetoed the Security Council’s resolution calling for a ceasefire. In other words, those who survived bombings, perish from starvation and dehydration.

The Security Council affirmed the vision of two States, Israel and Palestine, living side by side within secure and recognized borders, by its resolution 1397 (2002), and endorsed the Quartet’s (UN, Russia, US and EU) Road Map by its resolution 1515 (2003). But the power of Zionists lobbies is such that even the head of the United Nations feels compelled to do bothsidesism. Antonio Guterres says one thing about Israel’s aggression, and then the next day he condemns the attacks on Israel by Hamas.

Just merely verbal support from UN Chief led to the demands of his resignation, demonstrating unequivocally that the United States, UK, and other allies have no plans to abandon Israel’s side in the Security Council. Joe Biden’s aggressive pro-Israel policy has shocked many people in the US who are now openly questioning the US role in the Israeli genocidal action in Gaza.

Had the 57 OIC member countries wished to rescue the oppressed Palestinians, they would have called their own emergency summit, adopted a resolution condemning Israel, and instituted a global boycott of Israeli goods. The OIC convened a low-level meeting of foreign ministers in lieu of a summit of heads of state. This move bears no particular significance; the heads of these nations’ interests are only linked to those of the West.

Muslim countries need to move the UN, even if the United States and the United Kingdom block a resolution in support of Palestine, the desire of all Muslim countries may arouse the consciousness of the international community. They might come to understand that Muslims everywhere want to halt this bloodbath, which might lead them to stop supporting Israeli genocidal polices. Sadly, though, this hasn’t been done so far, and the likelihood that it will be in the future is also somewhat low. Muslim countries will persistently face persecution from Israel or other nations as a result of their internal strife.
