ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday separately summoned the sessions of National Assembly and Senate to be held on July 20 and July 24 respectively.
The National Assembly session will be held on Thursday, July 20 at 1700 hours while the Senate would meet on Monday, July 24 at 1500 hours.
The president summoned sessions of both Houses of Parliament on the prime minister’s advice under Article 54 of the Constitution. The upcoming session of the NA will be probably the last of the present lower house of the parliament.
Earlier, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb asserted that no decision had been taken yet by the incumbent government and its allies regarding the dissolution date of the National Assembly.
Reacting to media reports about the NA’s early dissolution on August 8, days before its term completes on August 12, the information minister said: “A decision has not been taken yet on the NA’s dissolution date.”
