Imran Khan claims Govt plans to assassinate him like Murtaza Bhutto

MM News Staff by MM News Staff

LAHORE: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has claimed that the PML-N led Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government planned to assassinate him like Murtaza Bhutto – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and brother of former premier Benazir Bhutto – by using a “special squad” that involves killing their own police officers to blame his party.

“The government and its handlers are planning a Model Town-style operation in Zaman Park today or tomorrow,” Imran claimed while addressing via video link.

The former premier accused Inspector-Generals (IG) of Punjab Dr Usman Anwar and Islamabad Dr Akbar Nasir Khan of hatching an assassination plan against him, saying that they want to kill him like Murtaza Bhutto.

“If they come and arrest me let them do it, I don’t want any bloodshed.”

Imran said that there is no bigger traitor in the country than those in power making decisions. “Look at their mindset they won’t stop from killing anyone,” he said.

Imran requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan to allow him to appear through a video link in all cases. “I want the Chief Justice of Pakistan to see these scenes, has any political leader ever faced such actions?” he asked.

PTI chief said that the youth should not forgive those in power for making these decisions. “If these criminals remain in power you have no future,” he said.

Imran said that the upcoming rally at the Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore will be a referendum against the people in power.

The ex-premier began his address by saying that he was going to talk about something “very important”. He said that a “meeting” would be held today where “a minority will try to take the majority out of the race”.

“Meaning what they will try to do is that the PTI is somehow not allowed to contest polls or they are somehow taken out of the election race.”

He said that the incumbent government was well aware of the fact that their days in politics would end if they went ahead with polls.

He said they are writing to all international human rights organizations about the fake cases and arrests of PTI workers.

PTI chief claimed that in the joint session of the parliament today, the minority will try to “oust PTI a majority party from the election race.”
