‘Mustache’, a film written and directed by Pakistani-American filmmaker Imran J Khan, has won the audience-voted Narrative Feature Competition honour at the SXSW Film & TV Festival.
The film centres around an eccentric 13-year-old boy named Ilyas, who sets off to navigate the social hierarchy of his new California public school with a mustache his parents will not allow him to shave off.

Mustache stars Atharva Verma, Rizwan Manji, Ayana Manji, Alicia Silverstone of Clueless, Hasan Minhaj, Meesha Shafi, Shaheryar Rana, Chris River and Mojeane Sadr.
Produced by Christina Won, Jessica Sittig, Christopher Storer, and Tyson Bidner, the film is award-winning shorts director Khan’s first feature film and is largely autobiographical.

Among the TV-side winners are the upcoming Steve James-directed ESPN documentary series ‘The Luckiest Guy in the World’ on NBA star-turned-analyst Walton, scoring honors in the TV Premieres category. The Season 2 premiere of Starz’s ‘Blindspotting’ was tapped as best of in TV Spotlight.
