ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is reported to have suspended two more officers in connection with the leakage of tax record of former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
According to a report available online, the FBR issued a notification putting under suspension Narjes Shaheen Ali Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Inland Revenue, RTO Lahore, and Ahsan Kaleem Khan, Second Secretary (Reform and Modernization Wing) FBR (HQ), Islamabad for a period of 120 days with immediate effect.
This development came within two weeks after the FBR suspended two of its officers on same allegations. They were identified as Atif Nawaz and Zahoor Ahmad.

It may be recalled that a US-based website had published tax records of ex-Army Chief Gen Bajwa and his family members, showing exponential growth in their wealth within a span of six years. The report, however, couldn’t find place in national mainstream media but an investigation order by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and a denial by ISPR made it to news headlines.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) department of the armed forces had refuted reports, circulated on various platforms of social media, about assets of outgoing Army Chief General Bajwa and his family, and termed it a ‘misleading data’.

 The report claimed that the latest development of suspending two more officers has panicked the FBR staff countrywide and a vacuum of understanding can easily be read out on their faces at the level of field formations.
