LAHROE: The Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ghulam Muhammad Dogar has challenged his suspension order, given by the federal government in the Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Monday.

The federal government had on November 5 suspended the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ghulam Muhammad Dogar for his alleged “failure” to protect Punjab’s Governor House. The notification issued to this regard said “Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, a BS-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan presently serving under Government of Punjab, is placed under suspension, with immediate effect and until further orders.”

In his petition, the CCPO Lahore has made the federal government, the secretary of the establishment department and the Punjab government respondents.

Dogar that the federal government was targeting him for registering terrorism cases against two federal ministers at Greentown police station in Lahore. The CCPO Lahore alleged that he registered case against federal ministers Maryiam Aurangzeb and Javed Latif on merit, due to which he was being victimized. He went on to say that he was never given any reason or the notice before issuing the suspension order.

In his petition, Ghulam Muhammad Dogar argued that the Chief Minister Punjab had the authority to remove him from the current post, and the same asked him to continue.

He also claimed that the federal government had attacked the autonomy of Punjab by issuing such an order (to suspend him).

The CCPO Lahore prayed to the LHC that the suspension and transfer notification of the federal government be declared null and void.
